2022 is just around the corner!
Among the usual New Year's resolutions, would you like to include planning, changing, or even rethinking your professional career?
Whether you are just starting out, feeling stagnant and in need of a new professional challenge, or just feeling lost without knowing what direction to take for your career... Don't miss the tips we are sharing here that might be useful!
First, it is essential to know exactly what you want to do and what you really enjoy doing. This implies a high level of self-knowledge, including recognizing own limitations and identifying the skills to be improved.
After this "diagnosis", the next step will be to set clear goals on how to achieve what you really want. Establish an action plan, with defined timings to work on the skills you need to improve to achieve your objectives. Note that in case you want to completely redefine your career, you should be prepared to take some "risks" (maybe even starting over at a lower seniority level, with a lower salary, etc.).
Furthermore, increase and improve your network of contacts, share your ambitions and be aware of the opportunities arising in the market (including within your organization!). Search for information, participate in relevant initiatives, and stay on top of the market trends. Knowing exactly how the business area you want to work in is performing or, knowing more about the responsibilities you would like to take on, makes everything easier!
Lastly, invest in your `self-marketing´. In the context of a recruitment process, it is important to be able to substantiate well your motivation for the project - especially if you are taking a change in your area of expertise - and to highlight your strengths. Be transparent and confident in your Communication!
Last but not least… Take into consideration that all (re)beginnings or changes bring challenges and anxiety. Be willing to step out of your comfort zone but.... Take the risk!
