Sustainability: improving our products, people, and the planet
The main objective in marking a "World Quality Day" is to reinforce the level of awareness about quality within the company and to recognize efforts and contributions of all employees.
This year, the theme chosen was: "Sustainability: improving our products, people, and the planet".
Sustainability is, by definition, the characteristic or condition of a process or a system, that gives the ability to maintain it at a certain level for a certain period.
Taking in consideration that this term has always been closely linked to environmental issues, it now makes sense to extrapolate it and adopt a broader understanding and vision.
International agencies have been calling for sustainability. Global standards support it, and companies are increasingly seeing this issue as a strategic variable.
We could question the importance of sustainability. However, the answer is simple: organizations are working together for this purpose, customers claim it and investors value it.
More and more, companies must be transparent and accountable for their impacts, by continuing to guarantee good working conditions and to promote good business practices.
What is the link between Quality and Sustainability?
Quality helps to improve products and services, based on business systems and processes, with the aim of improving results.
And yes, we need Quality to achieve Sustainability, taking responsibility for the impact of processes, products and services on people and the planet is a need.
Quality helps the system to develop solutions of sustainability. The environment and society became as important as customers and competitors.
We manage, monitor and measure results based on goals, which are now also sustainability.
After all, a sustainable environment benefits everyone!
